During the United Nations General Assembly High-Level Week, The Liechtenstein Initiative for a Financial Sector Commission on Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking released its final report, Unlocking Potential: A Blueprint for Mobilizing Finance Against Slavery and Trafficking. The Financial Sector Commission was a public-private partnership between the Governments of Liechtenstein, Australia and the Netherlands, United Nations University Centre for Policy Research – acting as its Secretariat – and Liechtenstein private sector institutions and foundations. Its 25 Commissioners included representatives from development finance institutions financial regulations, hedge funds, commercial and retail banks, investment management firms, the United Nations and survivors. The Blueprint sets out how financial sector actors can work through individual and collective action to address modern slavery and human trafficking.
