On 13 July, FAST hosted a virtual side-event during the UN’s High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Finance’s Role in Reducing Modern Slavery: COVID-19’s Lessons on Protecting the Most Vulnerable. The event was co-sponsored by our partners, the Governments of Liechtenstein, Australia and the Netherlands. The discussion considered the role of the financial sector in managing the increased risks of modern slavery generated by the pandemic. This includes addressing risks to the microfinance industry, human rights due diligence, engaging clients to take steps to protect workers and other affected stakeholders, and working together to address salient modern slavery risks.
